150 Years

In 2023, our School celebrates 150 years of Catholic education in Bowen, with our school being the first Catholic School in Bowen founded by two St Joseph Sisters, Sister M. Gertrude and Sister M. de Sales in September 1873. Today, as the only Catholic primary school in Bowen, St Mary’s continues a proud ongoing tradition of serving the Bowen community. 

We are excited to celebrate our strengths and achievements, proudly reflecting on all those who have come before us and are privileged to be a part of the past, present, and future story of Catholic education in Bowen. 

We look forward to sharing, connecting, and celebrating with each of you as we mark this significant milestone in the life of our school community.
